Today's Deal: 20090303

Since I received a request to find more free/cheap food, I did some research last night and this morning. I came across the Wow Coupons website.

There are 44 coupons on there right now, covering many different restaurants. Everything from Arby's to Subway to Pizza Hut. Not all of the coupons give free food, but there are some on there where you get free food for joining their mailing list/club, or buy one get one free coupons.

Also, at the top of the list is a link for Restaurant.com. From today through the 9th of March, they're offering $25 gift certificates to various restaurants for ten dollars, but if you use the code CHEF, that price gets cut in half. Think about it. Take your date to Chili's, Applebee's, or wherever, pay with gift cards, and only lose about five or ten dollars out of your pocket. Not a bad deal.

Today's Deal: 20090302

First, I'd like to apologize for not having a post up yesterday. To make up for it, today's post as a little bonus at the end.

GiveawayOfTheDay is a site I stumbled across that offers free various software every day. They switch it up daily, and while not everything is something that you'll use, there are a few good gems that show up. I've added an ongoing tracker to the side of the page so you can keep up with it. Today's is a free .pdf converter.

As the bonus for today, I found a code a little while back for A-One DVD Ripper and A-One DVD Copy. These two programs, combined with AnyDVD, or a dvd protection removing program of your choice, allow you to either burn a duplicate of your DVD (using DVD Copy), or convert your DVD into an .avi, .mpeg, DivX, and many other options (using DVD Ripper). I've used Ripper for a little while now, and have no complaints about it. It takes roughly an hour to convert your DVD into an .avi file containing the movie itself, and takes up much less disk space than an .iso file.

Today's Deal: 20090227

Looking for that perfect gift idea for a birthday, wedding, or any other special occasion? How about a bottle of wine or alcohol with a personalized label?

Pernod Ricard USA is offering free customized labels for Chivas Regal, The Glenlivet, and Kahlua bottles of wine and spirits. All they require you to do is select a brand, select a label type and the message you wish to use, and fill in your basic information. Name, Shipping address, Date of Birth, e-mail, etc. There is no credit card information required. They also have four survey questions at the bottom, mainly asking if the fact that they offer free labels encourages you to buy their products.

Crown Royal is offering free labels as well, for both Crown Royal, and Special Reserve. The labels come in various sizes, and there is also an option for a personalized Crown Royal bag, which costs $9.99. Once you select the bottle size and the text you wish to use on the label, they ask for the same basic information.

For both sites, there is a limit of five labels per e-mail address, and there is no tax or shipping fees needed. Neither site asks for credit card or specific personal information other than your shipping and e-mail address. These are great gift ideas, and another way to say how you really feel about that special someone, or to make that special occasion more memorable.

Today's Deal: 20090226 - Part 2

Sorry for the short fuse on this one. Denny's has buy one get one free coupons. The reason for the short fuse is the expiration date is tomorrow. Coupons are available here.

In the economic slump that we're going through, everyone is looking for free or cheap means of entertainment. With dvd's going for roughly twenty bucks a pop, cd's pushing fifteen or higher, and theaters rising to ten or more a ticket, entertainment is getting more and more expensive.

However, John Heffron , seen on NBC's Last Comic Standing, is offering the first half (12 tracks) of his latest cd as a free download on his website. The cd sells for $7.99 on Amazon as an MP3 download, and neither Best Buy nor FYE have it listed in their database. While not the full cd, it's still free entertainment, and pretty funny.

Today's Deal: 20090225

Whether you're advertising for a friend, recruiting new hires for your company, or just want a better way to get your website out to people, business cards have always been an easy option. Relatively cheap, easy to carry around, and customizable to have whatever information you want to give out to people.

Marketsplash is offering 100 business cards, free of charge. All of their designs are included in this, and can be customized to show name, title, company, website, address, etc., and also have the option of adding text boxes to put whatever you feel is important on the card. The one catch that I've seen for the free cards is the back of the card has a small advertisement in the lower left corner. However, this doesn't seem to be much of an issue, since most people don't pay attention to the back of the card. Also, there is an option to change the back of the card to one of their 16 preset designs for a fee of $3.99.

Once you create your cards, you will be required to create an account with the website. Nothing too personal at first. Name, e-mail address, password, the basics. From there, you can add the cards to your cart, and begin making your final selections.

For card type, medium matte and recycled paper are the free options. The other options are medium gloss, heavy matte, and heavy gloss for 5, 6, and 8 dollars respectively. Also, you have the option of picking them up at a local Staples, or getting a .pdf file in order to print your own. Note that the cost increased with both of these, however, due to using gas to get to the store, or buying the cardstock yourself.

Shipping options to your home or office include Ground shipping (to you within 7 business days) at no cost, 2nd Day (to you within 4 days) for $12.95, or Overnight, which isn't really overnight due to the site saying 'At your door in 3 business days', for $19.95.

The next step is the shipping and billing information. It also asks you for your credit card information. Each box has a save button, and you have to click the button in order to proceed. The credit card information is collected for validation purposes, and to prevent fraud. After completing my order, nothing had been charged to the card that I used. Once all information is input, click submit, and you will get the confirmation number for your order. The total screen for my order showed the following numbers:

Subtotal: $0.00
Tax: $0.00
Shipping: $0.00
Discount: $9.99
Shipping Discount: $6.95
Total: $0.00

Overall, not a bad deal. Good to test out a new idea for business cards, or to get a few for your own personal use.

20090224, Part 2.

I just came across this link that I felt like I had to share. SilverJewelryClub.com is offering extremely cheap jewelry. I know the site and links say free, but I'm hesitant to use that word due to the $6.99 shipping fee. However, that's all you pay.

The small ad on the right is a link to their site as well, and updates every fifteen minutes. The main page of their site has that item, plus three others, and each block updates every fifteen minutes, staggered. This works out to a new item appearing every few minutes, so you can keep your eye on it and see if there's something in particular you want.

Buying the item through their main site, Peora.com, the items that I've seen on the page range from $39.99 to $69.99. It's not free, but paying ten percent cost for a piece of jewelry is better than buying it at full price.

So take a few minutes. Show your wife/significant other/daughter/friend how much you enjoy having them in your life, and get them a piece of jewelry.

Slickdeals.net is a great site to find amazing deals on a variety of products. The site is updated daily with various ads, coupons, and mostly unheard of deals that stores are offering.

Coming to work today, I heard about the IHOP short stack deal (walk into IHOP and get a free short stack of pancakes between 7 A.M. and 10 P.M. in honor of National Pancake Day), but this site mentions two other restaurants offering free food.

Jack in the Box is offering two free tacos all day today with the use of this coupon, and Arby's is offering a free Roast Burger with the purchase of any drink at regular price from now until March 9th, using this coupon.

Along with the offer of free food when the occasion strikes, Slickdeals also covers sites such as Newegg and Amazon, and various other sites. Coupon codes are listed with the ads if needed, and the site also lets you know if the ad or deal you're viewing is expired or not. Other examples include a 25 foot White ethernet cable for $1 through EveryDaySource and an iPod car charger for 25 cents through iTrimming, both listed as expired at the time of this writing.

Overall, the site is definitely worth adding to your bookmarks and keeping an eye on, because deals like this don't stick around forever.
